Quoting the Quill #17

quoting the quill small

‘I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life…if you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it at full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good. Hot is no good either. White hot and passionate is the only thing to be.’

– Roald Dahl

I love how positive and enthusiastic this quote is, one of the things I find most frustrating in life is people that don’t seem to be passionate…about something, it doesn’t matter what. Some people in life only ever seem to think things are ‘good’, ‘nice’ or ‘okay’ and never deviate from those sorts of non-committal answers. There are so many wonderful things in this world to be passionate about (books of course are at the top. ;)) and I think it is important we are reminded of that sometimes!
I also thought it would be cool to use a Roald Dahl quote for Quoting the Quill this time as a belated celebration of Roald Dahl Day which took place on the 13th of September!

    • He was a diamond geezer…wrote in pencil from his garden shed in a comfy chair and penned (pencilled?) the screenplay of “You Only Live Twice”…and scared the beejesus out of me with “Tales of the Unexpected”. Style.

  1. I think Goodreads made this a quote of the day once and I’ve loved it ever since. The message of maintaining one’s passion and propelling it forward to accomplish one’s goals speaks to me. Another great quoting the quill!

    • Ohh really? In that case I applaud their taste, they do come out with some really good ones sometimes that I make note of myself. 🙂 I think it is so easy in life to do what we are supposed to for the sake of it that we sometimes need reminding that passion is important!
      Thanks, Thomas. 🙂
