“Knowledge is dangerous. Once you know something, you can’t get rid of it. You have to carry it. Always.”
– Samantha Shannon (The Bone Season)

This was one of my favourite quotes from my most recent 5 star read, The Bone Season. It’s a little ominous, and not as uplifting as the quotes I usually post, but I really love it. I think one of the reasons for this is because so often people don’t understand why I love reading books and I think this sums it up quite well. Books give us knowledge, therefore books are powerful.
But with great power comes great responsibility as they say! 😉

Quoting the Quill is an every other week meme created by me at Blogs-Of-A-Bookaholic. It runs every other Wednesday. Want to find out more or join in the fun? Check out the details here.
Cool quote! What you learn cannot be unlearned…
Exactly! It kind of reminds me of the other saying ‘be careful what you wish for.’ 🙂
It also reminds me of “the pen is mightier than the sword ”
Which I just notice has the word word in it 😮
That’s a great one too!
…and books keep our brains healthy and give us comfort too :). I love that quote too!
Absolutely! Helping your brain + having fun. What more could anyone want?!
FOOD!!!
Haha, true!
I love this quote! And its definitely true! 😉
I also really want to read this book! xoxo
Glad you liked it, Josephine!
The book is amazing, definitely worth adding to your wishlist or up your tbr. 🙂
That quote is quite chilling.
Agreed! It feels weighty.
Unfortunately, that quote doesn’t just apply to typical knowledge, but to things in your everyday life too. They’re not kidding when they say ignorance is bliss!
That is very very true. 🙂 Ignorance can sometimes be better, the truth may not be something you want to hear, and once you know it, you can’t un-know it!
So true. Whether good or bad, it’s difficult to forget! Knowledge is important but use it wisely. Either that or walk around with your fingers in your ears and never read anything ever again.
People all walking around with their fingers in their ears would be hilarious! But yes, I wholeheartedly agree. 🙂
