My 2019 Book Blogger Award Nominations // AKA, Giving the Community a Big Warm Hug!

The Third Annual Book Blogger Awards

It is a truth universally acknowledged that book bloggers are incredibly lovely people that work damn hard.

Book blogging can be a tough gig. Sometimes you feel that you’re flying high and winning at the internet, and other times it feels like you put in so much effort and don’t get much back for it.

For this reason, it’s so important that we support each other! Luckily, at its core, this community is so wonderfully friendly and passionate, to the point where I regularly feel like giving you guys a huge warm squishy bear hug. Yup, and you’re just going to have to take it!

olaf hug frozen gifI’m Becky, and I like warm hugs, just like Olaf!

I will be forever grateful for the love and support I’ve received since stumbling into this part of the internet six years ago, and now, I couldn’t even imagine my life without book bloggers in it!

So when I saw that May was going to be hosting the 2019 Book Bloggers Awards, I thought it was an awesome opportunity to try and give back/shout from the rooftops about some of the amazing bloggers I’ve met along the way! You can read May’s post here for more information on how the awards work! Book Fangirling Blog Award

book fangirling blog award

I don’t normally post about blog awards these days, mostly because I get quite a lot of them and I feel like the posts can get repetitive and aren’t that fun for people to read, but Read by Umbreen nominated me for this one, and how could I resist it with a title like ‘the book fangirling award’ AND when it has a picture of a Harry Potter jumper? 😉 This one is exactly my cup of tea, so thank you, Umbreen for thinking of me!

The Rules:

  • Create a post to accept your award.
  • Add the blog award button into your post and put it on the side of your blog as a widget. Visit fangirling for the award button.
  • Answer the questions I have below.
  • Nominate between 5-10 book bloggers who you think also deserve this award.
  • Come up with your own 5 questions for your nominees.

So here are Umbreen’s questions: Continue reading

Sharing the Love: A Bookaholic Tale

Once upon a time a young girl was sitting in the afternoon rays of the sun, occupying her little unassuming corner of the world. As she sat there avoiding her revision for an upcoming exam, she wondered why the world couldn’t simply run on love and books instead of statistics. It would be much more fun.
Then out of the corner of her eye a new blog comments popped into her inbox, they told her she had won two awards for doing what she loved. This made her little heart soar with joy, maybe the world did run on love and books after all.
She would like to thank Bound4Escape and Strung Out on Books for the nominations that brightened up her cloudy day.
The End.

Taggity, Tag Tags, of the Cool Variety!

I must admit, I’m pretty lax with blogging awards nowadays. I absolutely love getting them, but I’m usually so busy that they tend to get lost in the chaos of everyday life. :S But since I’ve moved into a period of serious procrastination, lets get this party started!

Firstly I would like to say a big thank you to Escaping Reality with Books for re-nominating me for the Beautiful Blogger Award and also Rafferty’s Rules for re-nominating me for the Versatile Blogger Award, it means so much to me  that you enjoy reading my blog, so thank you. 😀

Secondly a further big thanks to A Wordless Blogger and Zen Scribbles for nominating me for the ABC Award! I’m quite excited about this one because it has a cool task attached. A have to come up with an A-Z list of things that are to do with my personality. Well, I shall do my best. 🙂

Junk Food, Childhood Dreams and Movie Preferences.

Hey, how y’all doin’? 😀

(Sorry, occasionally I feel the need to use a southern accent, it just kind of pops out.)

Firstly I would like to thank you all for the great writing advise you gave me in a past post, it was really helpful and encouraging. I now have nearly 650 words drafted out, and I’m pretty excited about where this short story is going to go. 🙂

So moving on, yours truly has been tagged for the Liebester blogging award again twice by some fellow bloggers! I’ve already received these before so I feel like it would kind of be cheating to tag a load more bloggers again, but I thought that I’d answer the questions anyway, especially as there are some interesting ones. 🙂

If your feeling social, pop over to their sites and check these guys out!

Eclectic Updates and Ego Stroking

Aggghhh stressed! So, so stressed! I have too many deadlines and essays. It’s a spiraling abyss or psychological journals and books on grammar! I have 5,100 words of mumbo jumbo to write all due in by the start of December, and a looming exam. It feels impossible, but I’ll do it somehow I guess… :/

Meanwhile I have all these blog posts I want to write, and all these books I want to read but I barely have the time to touch either of them.

Agghhhfff, frustrated!

Which brings me back to my main point; books. It always goes back to the books doesn’t it? Lol.

2012 eclecticreader

I’m so behind on the Eclectic Reader Challenge! I’ve only read 8 of 12 books on the list and I only have until the 31st of December, and at the snail pace I am currently going there’s no way I will complete it. It’s quite depressing actually. I thought I would complete it no problem, but I keep deviating from the list. I’ve read 20 books this year, but only eight of them are relevant to the challenge. *sigh* So contrary. Not to mention the fact that various big changes in my life keep throwing me off balance which puts me even more behind.
As my first book challenge I really wanted to complete it, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. 😦

What are you Reading this Summer?

Here in the UK, summer has begun.

For some of us this means a chance to relax and splurge on an expensive holiday, for others it provides some much needed hope when shuffling into work, but for students it means the long awaited summer holidays are finally here; a short break from ramming facts and figures into our heads. Of the overwhelming stress and the manic shots of adrenaline our bodies pump through our system to keep us revising until 2am in the morning. But most importantly for me, it means the opportunity to hopefully get a lot more reading done!

Good Things Always Come In Threes.

You know the saying right? Good things always come in three’s. Only for me it’s not just a saying, it genuinely seems to happen, and the same also goes for bad events. For example, a couple of years ago, we had a power cut at school, then the next day our pipe sprung a leak, and then we had another power cut at home. I’m sure you’ve all encountered this weird rule of three right? I can think of so many other examples, three electrical products breaking all at once, (in my case, the washing machine, the kettle, and my straightners) or three good events happening in succession. It’s strange right? Even when writing, when we want to validate a point we often use alliteration or repeat the word three times. Heck, there’s even a Rule of Three in writing – A principle in writing that suggests that things that come in threes are inherently funnier, more satisfying, or more effective than other numbers of things.

Aw shucks, ya’ll gunna make me blush!

So, southern country accents aside….I can’t believe it! More blogging awards!!! I actually received these a little while ago now but I’ve only just gotten the opportunity to post about them. Firstly I was re-awarded the Versatile Blogger Award way back in February so I would like to give a big hearty thank you to Jumbled Minds who awarded it to me! If you are interested you can find my original Versatile Blogger post here. Secondly, to my surprise, I received several awards from Novel Journeys as well, all in one big package! (this was also back in February, gosh I’m more behind than I thought! :S ) So thank you very much to her!  Both of these blogs are amazing, and I really enjoy reading them and joining in with their discussions so you should check them out if you haven’t already! 🙂

I wasn’t really sure what to do in terms of passing these awards on, but I knew I wanted to continue spreading the joy (even if it does resemble a chain letter, because blogging awards really mean a lot to me.) Therefore I’ve decided to pass on one award per person to the blogs I have been enjoying the most recently for various reasons: 1.) really innovative and well written posts 2.) for being such friendly and lovely people that are always willing to have a conversation or debate, and 3.) those of course, that really deserve it! 🙂 Of course, I still follow tonnes of other blogs that I really enjoy too, but the more I add to the list the more it starts to look like a crazy chain letter 😛
For the people receiving the awards, if you want to pass them on yourselves or accept them that’s great! But If not then no worries 😉

The Liebster blog award!!!!

liebster blog award

Yay!!! I can’t believe it, another blogging award! I didn’t know exactly what this one was about, so I looked up Liebster and apparently it means ‘dearest’ in German. Apart from that it pretty much just seems like chain mail but for blogging, but I’m still honored to receive it. Plus, I’m always up for praising all the great blogs I follow so that others will get a chance to see them too and revel in their greatness 🙂
So……
Firstly, I would like to thank Speechless Chatter for giving me the Liebster Blog award. Speechless Chatter is new to blogging since the beginning of December and is great at coming up with thought provoking posts that encourage a good discussion. She is also currently attempting to write a book, so often posts about her writing experiences and tribulations. So this blog might be especially interesting to people like Nisha, Novel Journeys, Chris and kissthemuse. And equally I’m sure these blogs will be very interesting to Speechless Chatter. (Wow, I suddenly feel like a blog love matchmaker haha).

Now to present the Liebster award to five other unsuspecting bloggers, mwuhuhu.
(Please note: I follow so many great blogs that it was really hard to narrow it down to five, so to help me choose I decided to pick my top five book blogs, what with the main focus of my blog being on books.)

Ok *Drum roll please* Continue reading

The Versatile Blogger Award!

versatileblogger-award-icon1

First off: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *does happy dance*

Right. Now that’s out of the way.
I’m extremely excited to have been awarded The Versatile Blogger Award! Especially as I didn’t even know Blogging awards existed!

To accept this award I must 1. Formally thank the person who gave me the award 2. List 7 things about myself that others might not know about me 3. Pass it on the award to 15 other bloggers 4. Inform the bloggers I have given them the award.

So firstly I would like to thank the lovely Nisha for giving me this award! It really meant a lot to me, I love blogging and I’m just so glad that somebody else liked my blog enough to pass on this award to me! Nisha also has a really great Blog named NM’s Writers Blog, which you should definitely take a look at if you have the time!

7 things that you may not know about me:

  1. I’m obsessed with the TV programme Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I discovered it when I was 11, and have never looked back since. I have all the box sets, I own most of the  books inspired by the series, I have the Top Trumps, I have Buffy Playing cards, I could probably recite the entire 7 seasons to you, and I even have a Buffy towel! Yes my friends. I did just say I own a Buffy towel.
  2. I have a fear of Public speaking. If I have to talk in front of people I go red, my legs shake, and my eyes go blurry. I’ve tried so many different techniques to try and make me better at it, (picture the audience naked, act confident and you will be confident, be prepared etc)  but they always fail. I have come to accept my fate, I will never be a good public speaker.
  3. I absolutely hate broccoli
  4. I’m a worrier. Once I even made my friend come with me to double check that my  Math’s classroom was still in the same place that I remembered it being the year before. Cause y’no classrooms often move.
  5. I hate cooking. I’m useless at it. I even burnt popcorn once. In the future I either plan to be rich and have my own cook, or marry a guy that can at least cook food without burning it.
  6. I can put both of my legs behind my head. Yes, I realise that is quite weird.
  7. I LOVE CHEESECAKE.

The Bloggers I am passing the award onto:

As I’m kinda new to this whole blogging thing, and have only been doing this for around 2 months, I don’t yet have enough bloggers to mention, so I’ll have to go with 8. Continue reading
