Quoting the Quill #45

quoting the quill small

“A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.”

– James Keller

I came across this quote last week and immediately fell in love with it, and it’s a great one to keep in mind for 2015! I think it can be interpreted in several different ways depending on your outlook or life experience. For me, I see it as about helping people. I always think it’s important to be kind to others if you can, rather than only helping or being nice if there’s something in it for you because you never know what that person has experienced or gone through in their life. Giving someone a good piece of advice, passing on some useful knowledge or giving someone a bit of inspiration can make such a difference to someone else, and it doesn’t harm or affect you to be a little kinder, or to be helpful to another human being. These days in the rat race of everyday life when we’re rushing along with our own interests and agendas it can be easy to forget that. I like that this quote acts as a little reminder! 🙂

  1. This James Keller guy sounds like a socialist to me, and as everyone knows socialism is just one step away from communism… which is the vilest force the world has ever seen, one that needs to eradicated ASAP.

    Nifty quote though.

  2. Oo this quote had me scratching my non-existent beard. Simple yet thought provoking.

Good choice. Anyone would think you’re doing a psychology degree or something.

    • Hahaa I can so picture that comically in my head. *Charl reaches up to scratch her beard only to find that it’s not there. WHO STOLE MY BEARD she bellows frantically. Did someone borrow it off me again? I need it. It gives dramatic effect when I’m pondering something.*

Hmm you might be onto something there. Maybe I should look into that. 😉
